Career history
Geoff qualified from Newcastle Dental School in 1998.  He initially worked in general dental practice and at Newcastle Dental Hospital, before taking up Senior House Officer posts in Scotland and Manchester.  He then returned to the North East in 2003 to complete his specialist training at Newcastle University and Gothenburg University in Sweden.

Geoff specializes in all types of periodontal treatment including the management of advanced gum disease, periodontal regeneration and cosmetic gum treatments.  He also undertakes the surgical and restorative aspects of implant treatment for patients with missing teeth.

He has several publications in the dental literature, including articles in the British Dental Journal and Dental Update.  He has been awarded several prestigious prizes including the George Cross Fellowship and a research award from the British Society of Periodontology.

Qualifications and memberships
Geoff gained his Bachelor of Dental Surgery qualification in 1998.  He became a Member of the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow in 2000 and he is now an examiner for the college.  In 2005, Geoff obtained a distinction in his examination for Master of Science in Restorative Dentistry, and in 2007 he obtained his Membership in Restorative Dentistry from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

Geoff is an active member of several societies, including the American Academy of Periodontology, the Association of Dental Implantology, the British Dental Association and the British Society of Periodontology.
