Dr Mathew Sims graduated from Newcastle University Dental School in 2006, collecting the John Proctor Prize (awarded in recognition of outstanding operative skill) along the way. He has lived and worked in the local area for the last 10 years. Alongside providing treatment for his patients, Dr Sims has undertaken many hours of post-graduate dental education in the field of Cosmetic Dentistry, under the tutelage of some of the country's leading cosmetic dentists.
Two year-long 'hands on' Cosmetic Dentistry courses with internationally-renowned Dr Paul Tipton (for which he received a Special Commendation award in recognition of his clinical skill) and Dr Chris Orr have enabled Dr Sims to hone his clinical technique and theoretical understanding of smile design and smile reconstruction using the very best materials.
As well as enjoying the restorative aspect of cosmetic dentistry, Dr Sims is also experienced in providing a variety of 'Cosmetic Short Term Orthodontic' systems including Invisalign, Six Month Smiles and Inman Aligners, which can be used to help people achieve straight white teeth without the need for restorations. Dr Sims continues to invest much of his time broadening his knowledge in both the restorative and orthodontic aspects of Cosmetic Dentistry.
Dr Sims is a member of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, an organisation for British dentists who are dedicated to the provision of excellent cosmetic and aesthetic dentistry.
In his spare time Dr Sims enjoys playing golf and squash, and snowboarding when the opportunity arises.
