Crowns and Bridges

The Natural Smile Restoration

Badly damaged or missing teeth cause all sorts of problems. Mealtimes lead to difficult decisions about what you can bite or chew, and socialising becomes fraught with self-conscious doubts about the appearance of your smile.

If this sounds familiar, here comes great news: Restoring your smile with a crown or bridge has never been easier. At The CDC, we place custom-made dental restorations that are indistinguishable from the real thing, leaving you with functioning teeth and a smile you’ll love.

CEREC—The Jewel In the Crown

We can use a life-like custom-made dental crown to cap a damaged tooth or dental implant. Capping a damaged tooth with a crown protects it from further injury or decay. When used with a dental implant, the crown replaces the tooth. Dental crowns can be metal, resin, or porcelain.

Porcelain Crowns & Same-Day CEREC Restorations

Porcelain crowns offer an unparalleled natural aesthetic with more durability than resin. We can skillfully match the shape and colour of your natural teeth for a seamless smile, and thanks to next-generation digital CEREC production facilities right here in the clinic, we can produce stunning porcelain crowns in as little as a day.

Metal Crowns

Metal offers supreme durability, making it an excellent choice for restoring the hard-working molars at the back of your mouth.

Resin Crowns

Resin is a cost-effective option providing a more natural look than metal. Although it looks great, resin doesn’t have the same durability and lifespan as other materials, so it may need earlier replacement.

The Crown Placement Process

Because your dental crown is made-to-measure, the process involves several steps.

bg

The Consultation

If you need a crown, we’ll invite you to one of our welcoming modern clinics in Newcastle or Durham for an initial assessment. We’ll take digital scans of the affected tooth and begin planning our restoration.

At this stage, we’ll also discuss the process in more depth and answer any questions you may have.

The Creation

Every crown we place is meticulously made to measure using the latest dental technology. We believe the skill, artistry, and precision design of these crowns are remarkable—we know you’ll love yours.

The Coronation

We won’t leave you waiting long. After we’ve made your crown, we’ll firmly bond it to your existing tooth so you can eat and smile with confidence again.

The Bridge to Your New Smile

A bridge is a life-like dental restoration that replaces a missing tooth with support from one or both neighbouring teeth, bringing back your smile and your ability to bite and chew.

Left without a replacement tooth, the gaps in your smile could cause neighbouring teeth to drift, leading to misalignment. A bridge prevents this movement. In addition, completing your smile with a bridge makes brushing your teeth easier, reducing the potential for decay and infection. There are different types of bridges; each has its specific benefits.

image

Traditional Bridges

A traditional bridge consists of a replacement tooth, called a pontic, joined on either side by two dental crowns. These crowns are bonded to your natural teeth. Traditional bridges are porcelain and metal. Because of the materials used, we can create a perfect replacement for your missing teeth.

Cantilever Bridges

If we replace a tooth with only one neighbour, we’ll use a cantilever bridge. These have a pontic supported by a single dental crown bonded to a natural tooth.

image

Maryland Bridges

Maryland bridges differ from traditional and cantilever bridges. Instead of taking its support from crowns placed on the adjacent teeth, a Maryland bridge has metal wings bonded behind the neighbouring teeth, providing a quick and stable restoration.

Let’s Build Bridges

If a bridge sounds like the right option, here are the steps you’ll take to your new smile.

bg

Assessment

First, we’ll assess your smile, using the latest technology to examine the teeth we’ll use to support your bridge. This helps us work out which type of bridge is right for you.

During your initial consultation, we’ll discuss what you can expect from the procedure, talk through finance options, and answer your questions.

Planning

Every bridge that we place is bespoke. We’ll carefully plan the procedure and craft a bridge specifically for you. We may need to prepare the supporting teeth. If this is the case, we may remove a small portion of the enamel from them to make way for the crown.

Construction

After your bridge is crafted, we can bond it in place. Throughout the placement process, we’ll ensure you’re comfortable.

The whole experience from start to finish was fantastic. I read about composite veneers 8 days ago, I had an initial consultation with David, one the dentists, last week. Today I had 6 veneers applied to my upper teeth. The result is astonishing, I am delighted. David even came in on his day off to treat me as I am on leave and work commitments can make time out a challenge. Highly recommended. Thank you!

Absolutely incredible experience from start to finish. I had Invisalign and composite bonding done as my teeth were very overcrowded and uneven. David went through everything and explained things so well. I travelled all the way from Wakefield as I knew the experience was going to be amazing from these guys. There’s even a tele on the ceiling so you aren’t bored whilst you’re in the chair! Such a good touch. I couldn’t recommend them more.
