Orthodontic dentistry is a way of straightening or moving teeth, to not only improve the appearance of the teeth, but to aid the long-term health by allowing easier cleaning. Although orthodontics can take longer than restorative options such as veneers, they have the advantage of avoiding ‘preparation’ or removal of the natural tooth tissue.
Many people have crowded or crooked teeth. Orthodontic treatment will straighten the teeth or move them into a better position. Traditionally fixed metal braces were the only option, however recently more and more systems have been developed which may be quicker and more aesthetically acceptable to our patients.
